It's Okay

about

This song is a trip down memory lane to reminisce about family and the past.

lyrics

(Chorus)
As I begin to reminisce on so many times that I miss…
Sometimes I just wish I could go back in time to relive some of those days but now they are so far away,
and it’s okay… even though it’s so hard to say.

(Verse 1)
Blowing bubbles in the back yard, sprinklers on, helping gramma feed the fish in the pond,
Not a care in the world as we skip along,
On a cool Summer day while we play on the lawn,
Gramps chilling in his shop passing the time making tables & clocks,
Before we ate every day we stopped & took time to pray & give thanks to God.
That’s how we would do it. Family reunions.
Cousins playing tag, watching cartoons,
Catching a pro wrestling match on the tube,
While the grownups were in the other room doing what they do.

(Chorus)
As I begin to reminisce on so many times that I miss…
Sometimes I just wish I could go back in time to relive some of those days but now they are so far away,
and it’s okay… even though it’s so hard to say.

(Verse 2)
My other gramma would pick roses & drink Diet Coke while grandpa rode on his tractor,
and after he mowed he would barbecue hamburgers on the patio,
Little dogs running round yelping,
But they loved those mutts so much, they just couldn’t help it.
After the food it was out to the shop to watch grandpa build small wooden boxes,
He was Country but he still rocked,
Guitar in his hand, he would play it often,
With a grin on his face while he sang those tunes,
Yo-da-li-da-Lo-da-lady-hoo. Man, I miss you.

(Chorus)
As I begin to reminisce on so many times that I miss…
Sometimes I just wish I could go back in time to relive some of those days but now they are so far away,
and it’s okay… even though it’s so hard to say.

(Verse 3)
How lucky was I? I not only got 4 grandparents but I also had Pop.
Rough around the edges, one of the have-nots with a bachelors degree from the school of hard knocks,
He was a black-hat hacker, computer ace,
Telling stories about how he used to race,
Him and Deuce doing things that he wouldn’t say, causing mischief way back in their younger days,
When it came to discipline he didn’t play,
So around him we watched what we had to say,
A strong pillar in really so many ways,
He stood so tall for a man with no legs.

(Bridge)
I miss you all.
I wish you all were still here.
Sometimes when I reminisce
It still feels like you’re near!

(Chorus)
As I begin to reminisce on so many times that I miss…
Sometimes I just wish I could go back in time to relive some of those days but now they are so far away,
and it’s okay… even though it’s so hard to say.
