about

A shout out to my good friends Kirk and Mateasa Bathke and their coffee shop in rural Polk County Oregon.

lyrics

(Chorus)
On the backroads where the bullfrogs sing,
And the dust never settles on the land of the free,
the trees stand tall swayin’ in the breeze,
near the waterfall at the mountains feet,
4x4’s & dirt bikes meet where gravel roads run from paved streets,
No skyscrapers, no taxis, just fishing poles and air so clean from miles away you can smell the sweet aroma of fresh brewed coffee…
Praise God above for the wild country!

(Verse 1)
Not to sound bravado but the whole term Americano shoulda been coined where the auto parts stores are more common than large ports, and you need one unless you ride a horse, but of course down here Ed is not a core efficiency, it’s a name like Bob or George,
and a field is a place where they grow some corn,
so they can feed the whole community and poor folks can be given opportunities to score a way to make a livin’ instead of living for what they’re given. Northwest! Here we pour cups of some of the best coffee for sure!
Sure, we’ve got Baristas but they’re rocking Carharts shopping for car parts after work, it all starts with kids riding BMX bikes & go-karts, and the best place to buy a Leatherman is Bi-Mart.

(Verse 2)
We come from the land of the evergreen, where they search for truffles under the canopy, of the trees where the kids play hide and seek, and the Sasquatches live but are never seen,
Where it rains so much that conceivably you could drown while your standing up and things hardly ever dry out cause it stays soggy three out of the four seasons usually,
But when the sun does come out so do we,
Lookin’ for fun things that we can do for free,
Cause the truth is most of us grew up in need,
and those who aren’t now had to earn it through hard working,
Honestly though, we probably wouldn’t change a thing,
Oregon born, in the capital of logging, pronto pups, sand-boards, and grass seed, Beavers & du**$…ohh… excuse me for that crass language!

(Verse 3)
So come on down and have a drink or two,
Get you a large Mochanut or a Loggers Brew,
Either way on the Backroads you know who does it better than anyone else could do,
I need some biscuits and gravy to start my day,
I gotta lotta new dope music to make so
I better get a couple extra shots of espresso
We keep it Country, Rock, Hip-Hop with some retro vibes for crowd,
If you’re down you can let go, get your banjo out and play along with the set yo,
If you’re get up and go got up and left bro,
You can bet one thing, the beans here are fresh so,
Whether you need a cold drip or your coffee pressed the Backroads has your fresh cup of excellence!
And you can tell them eCs told ya first cause the best in Northwest set the example for the rest.

After a long journey that felt like 40 years in the wilderness, he’s back. What does that mean? Time will tell what God has in store... but it's in the right hands.
